Recording a payment binding for OpenAI API.

Also known as from xLog to ChatGPT

Last week, I was honored to receive an official sponsored $20 MIRA, but due to some minor issues, I did not complete the withdrawal process, so it remained in a pending state. It wasn't until I saw that the $18 trial amount gifted to my OpenAI account would expire on April 1st and I needed to start paying for it, that I remembered I could use this money to go through the Depay card activation and verification process. (Currently, the "531993" segment is temporarily feasible)

I. MIRA Withdrawal

After receiving MIRA, open the "Tokens" page in the backend. Under the $MIRA project, there are two buttons: "Convert to USDC" and "Conversion Tutorial". The tutorial includes a video, so just follow the instructions. Pay attention to a few points:

  1. Prepare some MATIC in your wallet in advance to pay for gas fees. If you don't have any, you can buy some directly from an exchange.
  2. On Uniswap, directly choose to convert MATIC to USDT.
  3. If you encounter any problems during the withdrawal process, you can send an email to the official support, and they are very prompt in fixing and responding.

II. Depay Card Activation

Go directly to register Depay (including invitation, please do not click if you mind), and apply for a Mastercard. The specific fee levels are marked, so check and choose accordingly.

After applying, you need to recharge $10 for activation. Click on "Wallet" -> "USDT" -> "Deposit". Here, I chose Polygon, so please make sure to choose the correct network to avoid any loss of funds.

After obtaining the deposit address, send the amount you want to deposit to that address from your wallet.

  1. After sending, you can check the pending amount in Depay's wallet after about one or two minutes.
  2. It will be processed in about ten to fifteen minutes, and the deposit will be activated.
  3. When enabling Google Authenticator, there is no problem using Google Authenticator, but when using apps like Aegis, importing the QR code directly will result in an incorrect verification code. In this case, you can directly copy the secret displayed on the screen and manually add it as an entry. (It seems that there may be an issue with correctly handling the base32 of the secret. If you are interested, you can also try the two-step verification app I developed here, although it also has this problem XD...)

III. OpenAI Card Binding

Note that this is for the API, not ChatGPT Plus. There is a difference between the two.

  1. It is recommended to enable the global mode of the proxy tool and use a node with a real IP, and then open the browser in incognito mode.

  2. Log in and visit the billing dashboard, and click on "Set Payment Method".

  3. With the global proxy enabled, check the location of your current IP. Here, I use ipip to check.

  4. Generate a billing address for your current location. If it is the United States, pay attention to the issue of tax-free states. Here, I use a Japanese IP with the location set as Osaka. You can directly ask ChatGPT to help you with the specific address, for example:

  1. Fill in the necessary information correctly. There are input restrictions for the postal code on the first line. In the example image, you can enter 55600.

At this point, the binding is successful.

IV. Others

  1. Some people have reported that the renewal of ChatGPT Plus fails after one month, while others have said that it can be resolved by re-payment. The specific situation is unknown and needs to be checked after one month...

  2. The fees generated by Depay are also not low, so if there are better options available, it is not recommended to prioritize this solution.

  3. As for the security issues, well... I choose to use and recharge as needed :)
